Celebrating Bonhoeffer's life and death

Just finished Renate Bethge, Dietrich Bonhoeffer: Brief Life. Feb. 4 was the 100 anniversary of Bonhoeffer's birth and April 9 will be the 61st anniversary of his death. Few dead writers of the 20th century have influenced me more. His poem, "WHO AM I?" is haunting in it's pathos and integrity and wisdom. Thanks God for souls like Bonhoeffer. I look forward to meeting my brother Dietrich in Glory.

Don't know which movie you saw. I have a seen a couple. One that I recommend is Dietrich Bonhoeffer: Memories and Perspectives. (90 minute, black and white made in 1983). A great radio script is the Focus on the Family Radio drama--excellent.

Hey, thanks for the comment. I appreciate both the effort to take notes and the desire to help me/us do it better.

Couple of comments:
1. Last week was a first effort. Don't judge the whole process too quickly. We'll put the references on the screen in the future and we will have the text (portions at least) at times as well.
2. Every change is an adjustment from everyone, preacher and parishioner alike. Give both time to adjust.
3. Leadership at times will make people uncomfortable. It is part of the job description of a leader.
4. Your final comment....I'm just going to shut up and let the Holy Spirit and you work that out.

Have a great day.

I just finished my fourth or fifth reading of Life Together, and I'm running out of stuff to underline. I'd like to teach it in my church's Sunday school program. It's yummy.
