A Pastor Muses about "Whatever"

There are so many things to fight about. And it seems that our nature is prone and bent toward looking for battles at times. I wonder how many stupid fights and arguments and miscommunications, how much bitterness and anger and resentment, how much loneliness and alienation would be avoided if we simply followed the Scripture's admonition contained in two verses.

A Thought List
"Finally brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." (Philippians 4:8, ESV)

A Talk List
"Let no unwholesome word proceed out of your mouth, but only such a word as is good for the need of the moment, that it may give grace to those who hear it." (Ephesians 4:29, NASB)

I wonder.

The bottom line is - we are sinners with wicked hearts living in a fallen world and we forget to remember to remember God, our creator who knows our hearts, minds and knows the future....so we need each other for accountability...we should consider the "whatevers" every day...

Amen. Life, this side of the eternity, is too short to waste a moment without applying God's word to our situation.
