Back from God's Country

Just got back from Pennsylvania and the men's summit for LifePointe Church. What a great bunch of guys. It was good to be with them and see their hunger for the word of God. Made some new friends, deepened an old aquaintance and learned as much as I taught.

Their passion for worship and desire to reach their community was refreshing. Sometimes in the midst of all that God is doing in our midst, we forget that he is doing great things in other places as well.

Thanks to all of you who prayed for my safety and for the messages. Continue to pray that there would be an eternal harvest from my time with these men. Pray for one young man in particular with a troubled past but a great future. Pray that D. would grow in the grace and knowledge of Christ, in his grasp of the gospel and for faithful friends to come alongside him and encourage him along the way. Pray too for his young son and wife.

Came back exhausted but thrilled to have been used.

Sally was driving home from one of her business trips in Northern Arizona when she saw an elderly Navajo woman walking on the side of the road. As the trip was a long and quiet one, she stopped the car and asked the Navajo woman if she would like a ride. With a silent nod of thanks, the woman got into the car.

Resuming the journey, Sally tried in vain to make a bit of small talk with the Navajo woman. The old woman just sat silently, looking intently at everything she saw, studying every little detail, until she noticed a white bag on the seat next to Sally.

"What in bag?" asked the old woman. Sally looked down at the white bag and said, "It's a box of chocolates. I got it for my husband".

"The Navajo woman was silent for another moment or two. Then speaking with the quiet wisdom of an elder, she said: "Good trade."

That story has potential for humor, except that it is too often true. But it sounds like the men you addressed are worthy to be called men.

I hope we have a good turn-out at this Saturday's men's meeting (Nexus).
