"Think Magnificent Thoughts of God"

"Think magnificent thoughts of God." (Alexander Whyte) I ran across this quote from the great Scottish preacher Alexander Whyte. His character sketches of the great heroes of the faith is a classic. This quote apparently was the way that he would say goodbye to his parishioners.

What a wise pastor he was. What a great way to walk away from a brother. To direct the brother or sister's thoughts to a Magnificent God who is more than able to guide and protect and strengthen his people for every battle, every trial and every "valley of the shadow of death."

Today, as you shop for groceries, and go to the post office, and gas your car, and commute to work, and listen to co-worker complaints, and discipline your children, remember to remember that your God is great. Think magnificent thoughts of Him and find in those thoughts the reason to carry on.

Hey Rebel,

I love the title of your blog! I tell my son almost daily; you want to be a rebel? Then rebel from the world!

Anyhow, I also enjoyed your most recent post, regarding "thinking magnificent thoughts of God." What an exhortation; I find that Colossians 1:15-20 certainly helps me to think magnificent thoughts!

Keep up the good work, and I'd like to keep popping in here to check out your blog in a more regular basis!
